UNITED NATIONS COMMISSION ON STATUS OF WOMEN

UNCSW

This agenda looks at the everyday realities faced by women who leave their homes and travel to other cities or countries in search of work, hoping to support their families. Imagine a young woman from a rural village who becomes a domestic worker abroad. Her passport is withheld, she works long hours without rest, and she is paid less than promised. Or a factory worker who faces harassment but stays silent because she fears losing her job. Many women accept unsafe conditions due to social norms that teach them to obey, sacrifice, and prioritize family over their own independence.

By discussing these situations, the committee aims to strengthen labour laws, ensure fair wages, protect dignity, and give women migrant workers the freedom and economic p to shape their own futures.
